It has been a very valuable book to read, to understand the pain indigenous people have been subjected to in Australia.

Brilliant scholarship, and so important for reading in 2023

I was overwhelmed by the extensive research Judy Atkinson put into this book. It is no wonder that it has been reprinted NINE times since its original publication date in 2002.

I am finding it invaluable as I prepare for the two conversations I have agreed to host on behalf of #Together,Yes in the lead up to the 2023 Referendum on the enshrinement of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in Australia’s constitution.

Thank you Professor Judy Atkinson, and thank you Spinifex Press.

Exceptionally significant must read for every Australian

Wonderful understanding of indigenous cultural processes and their healing processes, especially for the most horrific and wide spread abuse of colonialism and its ongoing offenses of abuse even to the current day.
