Handcrafted Turtle Earrings

Gurlibil-turtle earrings designed by Yawuru artist Amanda Rose Lee.

Details

Amanda likes to depict gurlibil laying their jimbu (eggs) which they do in MangalaSeason, around December-March.

Handcrafted from blue acrylic with dark details and a mirror blue organic circle and stainless steel post.

About Nagula Jarndu

Yawuru Jarndu first started operating in 1987 when it was established as an Indigenous women’s resource centre by Yawuru women, with the aim of recording oral history and preserving Yawuru language and culture.

The organisation evolved into an arts and textiles business, offering training in screen printing and dressmaking, producing fabrics for clothing and home wares, designed and made by local Indigenous artists. A retail outlet was established in 1998 called Nagula Jarndu Designs which proved a successful venture.

Stunning Turtle Earrings

I was these online sometimes ago, and was instantly drawn to the colours and powerful imagery of the Turtle. When they arrived, I couldn’t believe how beautiful they were; even more stunning than the photo online. They are well made and surprisingly light to wear. Couldn’t be happier with the craftsmanship and the quick postage.
