Alunya Wilkinson is a proud Biripi Woman, weaver, and the maker behind Woven by Alunya, where she creates handcrafted jewellery and baskets that celebrate culture, Country, and community.

Born on Biripi Country and having returned to live there over 12 years ago, Alunya has strengthened her cultural connections through active involvement in community, women’s camps, and cultural workshops. It was through the guidance of Aunties and time spent learning alongside other women that she learned the art of weaving, carrying forward knowledge that has long been shared between Aboriginal women.

Alunya is a descendant of the Ridgeway and Donovan families, and her work reflects the landscapes and natural materials of Biripi Country. The gumnuts featured in many of her pieces are locally sourced, carefully sanded, and finished with a light gloss to highlight and preserve the beauty of native plants. She pairs these with natural raffia sourced from an Indigenous-owned business, supporting other Aboriginal enterprises.

Through Woven by Alunya, Alunya creates jewellery and baskets that honour culture, community, and the enduring traditions of Aboriginal weaving. Each piece carries a connection to Country and the knowledge passed down through generations of women.
