Update from the First Nations Tourism Mentoring Program

In July 2023, the FNTMP team engaged 19 mentoring organisations to deliver mentoring
services across Australia to First Nations Tourism Businesses. Learn more here.
To date, over 65 First Nations Tourism Businesses have applied to participate in the
program with 33 of those applicants currently receiving mentoring
The program is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and
administered through a partnership between PwC’s Indigenous Consulting (PIC), Intrepid Travel and Welcome to Country.

The FNTMP supports participants to grow their tourism business by connecting participants with expert advice, tailored learning and access to culturally respectful industry specialists.
Eligible First Nations Tourism Businesses will be matched with an experienced mentor who will work with mentees on a one-on-one basis to support their business goals and flourish.

To be eligible, businesses must be:

● at least 50 percent First Nations-owned
● operating in the tourism sector or associated supply chain (e.g .cafes and
restaurants, accommodation providers, etc.)
● at least semi mature – that is, they are active and currently in operation and have
products or services which are or can be made available to domestic and/or
international visitors.
