Mentee applications are now open for the First Nations Tourism Mentoring Program (FNTMP). The program seeks to connect First Nations tourism businesses with experienced First Nations Mentors to offer culturally safe and industry specific business mentoring services. The best part is this is a completely free program designed to elevate First Nations tourism in Australia.
Simon Thornalley the owner and operator of Saltwater Eco Tours has signed up as a mentee of the FNTMP. Saltwater Eco Tours is located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast region of Queensland. Launched in early 2020, the company realises Simon’s vision to establish an eco-tourism sailing experience that would inspire a deeper connection to First Nations cultures and the ocean.
Although Simon currently runs a successful business, he saw the FNTMP as an opportunity to broaden his business knowledge and enhance the experiences he offers to customers, increasing his brand position and business revenue. “I signed up in the hope that I can gain further knowledge on growing existing tours, launching new tours and further building the brand we have.” said Simon. I am looking forward to learning “how to market tours in other ways, how to further engage with our audience and how to build further bookings with existing tours.”
When thinking about the program’s outcomes Simon said, “I think my and the program’s success will be easily measured through how effectively I can implement new ideas or concepts that I have learnt in the program and the positive business outcomes and feedback from customers.”
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to develop your business, applications are now open for free one-on-one tourism mentoring services!
