YOUR EXPERIENCE PROVIDER
The Giingan Gumbaynggirr Cultural Experience is about Gumbaynggirr culture, people and language.
The day is made up of three components run across the day:
Giingan Markets 8:30am – 1:30pm (Temporarily closed due to COVID-19)
Giingan Tour 10:00am – 12.30pm
Nyanggan Gapi Café 8:30am – 2:00pm
This award winning cultural tourism experience operates at the iconic Sealy Lookout, Korora just north of Coffs Harbour.
Giingan Markets (Temporarily closed until further notice due to COVID-19)
Our markets give visitors and tourists alike the opportunity to purchase products made locally by Aboriginal stallholders, and gives our local artists and creators the opportunity to share their products with the wider community. We are proud to offer this unique market to the list of already fantastic markets the Coffs Coast offers.
The Giingan Experience is about Gumbaynggirr people, language and culture. The Cultural Experience takes place at an important cultural site of the Gumbaynggirr people, the stunning location of “Niigi Niigi” (Sealy Lookout) within the Orara East State Forest. Guests bask in the ambience of 360 degree views and immerse in our culture through stories, songs, language and the uses of native plants.
By taking part in the experience, guests are making a direct contribution to the revitalisation of Gumbaynggirr language and culture. We are driven by our culture, and by the knowledge that we are competing against time to revitalise the Gumbaynggirr language. We work closely with our community and Elders in order to deliver this Gold Award Winning Experience (Gold Award – NSW Tourism Awards 2019).
Enjoy our Wajaarr Ngaarlu Dancers performance at Sealy Lookout, while enjoying Aunty Jenny's damper. Then take the walk down to Korora Lookout and hear the Dreaming stories of how the land was made to north.
Our Giingan Tour not only offers guests an unforgettable cultural experience, but also offers our Gumbaynggirr community the opportunity to participate and experience speaking traditional language and to practice culture on Country.
This is something that we are truly passionate about- not only offering an amazing tourism experience, but giving our community the opportunity to regain culture and identity, and to be proud of who they are and what we are all achieving.
