This tour takes in the highlights of Kakadu before leaving the crowds behind and entering Arnhem Land. After visiting the Aboriginal community of Gunbalanya, the safari continues to the pristine Cobourg Peninsula, staying at Cobourg Coastal Camp. Enjoy good food, great guides and see something a bit different on this award-winning small-group tour.
Tour highlights include: Kakadu waterfalls, an Aboriginal guided rock-art tour in Arnhem Land, wildlife cruises full of birdlife and crocodiles, remote safari-style accommodation, fishing and more!
Each day is truly different and unique.
Day 1
We’ll explore Kakadu, embarking on a wetlands cruise before a hike and swim at Barramundi Gorge. Highlights:
Day 2
We’ll enter Arnhem Land and a local Aboriginal guide will show us the spectacular Injalak Hill rock-art sites. We also visit Injalak Arts Centre where guests meet artists and buy traditional and contemporary arts directly from the community. Highlights:
Day 3 and 4
We’ll then spend the next 3 nights at Cobourg Coastal Camp, Venture North’s private camp on the pristine Cobourg Peninsula. Here we’ll embark on a range of wilderness activities including nature walks, Victoria Settlement ruins tour, boating, birdwatching, fishing, beach combing and much more. Highlights:
Day 5
Visit Ubirr Rock Art site as well as Mamukala wetlands on the drive back to Darwin. Highlights:
This is a 5 day, 4 night experience for a maximum of 6 guests. Scheduled departures run from May through October each year. Departs: Mondays and Thursdays. Check the calendar for departure dates. The tour is suitable for all ages.
