Tim Sculthorpe, Head of Marketing
Tim is a proud palawa man who graduated from UTAS in 2005 with an Arts Degree in Psychology and Marketing. Tim has 12 years experience in the Aviation and Tourism industry.
Tim started his career at Jetstar Airways in 2008 as the first Aboriginal Graduate in their new graduate program. Tim was responsible for international marketing covering Vietnamese domestic, New Zealand domestic and international in bound.
Tim became the Regional Head of Marketing for Jetstar in Japan and was responsible for starting the marketing team and repositioning Jetstar from an Australian international airline to a Japanese domestic airline. Tim’s time at the Qantas Group gave him an excellent understanding of the tourism industry.
Tim decided it was time for a new challenge and moved to London to be the Head of Commercial at a start up tech company. The company specialised in software solutions to the travel industry and was best known for developing booking engines for airlines. This experience has given Tim a deep knowledge and understanding into the importance of technology on the tourism industry.
Tim was also the Owner and Co-Founder of palawa kipli – the first Tasmanian Aboriginal Food business. The purpose of the business was in line with Tim’s vision of teaching people about Aboriginal culture for a more sustainable future. This vision is what still drives Tim today and that is why he is very passionate about working for Welcome to Country.
