Nancy Bamaga

Nancy Bamaga is a Thabu/Samu person from Saibai Island in the Torres Strait Islands. 

Nancy is highly skilled in leadership within the Torres Strait Islander community. She serves as a facilitator of community forums and leads community-driven projects. Additionally, Nancy curates community cultural programming. She has developed and delivered a cultural competency program to non-Indigenous businesses. Nancy possesses knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with Indigenous peoples. She excels in community engagement, cultural development, and stakeholder management. Nancy is experienced in planning and staging major events, designing and implementing public programs, and fostering the development of Indigenous creative industries. She is also adept in business development, mentoring, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including marketing, promotions, networking, and identifying valuable resources.

Nancy was recently awarded the 2023 QTIC Award for Recognition 40-year contribution to the First Nation Tourism Industry.
